In the mid-1600's the Dutch settled in Breukelen, across the river from New Amsterdam on the southern tip of Manhattan. It was named after a town in their homeland of the Netherlands but you may know it better by its current name - Brooklyn, New York. These settlers carved out small pieces of land, planted their roots, started their communities, and their stories remain here to this day. Our neighborhoods and streets are named after them and their tombstones are relics to our past.

When we settled in Brooklyn ourselves many years ago, we too planted our roots and made it our home. We always felt a strong connection to this place but it was our love of history, specifically NYC and Brooklyn history, that became the catalyst to realizing the depth of those connections and the importance of preserving and honoring our roots. 

While on a historical tour at Green-Wood Cemetery learning about the famous "residents" that lay interred there, we stumbled across a section of headstones in an unusual round pattern. Our curiosity got the best of us, paving the way to research the unusual stones, the people that made them, and the people that lay beneath them, and as they say....the rest is history.  

The deeper we dove into our research the deeper we felt a connection to the people and places around us. This encouraged us to share with others the importance of preserving history, getting back to your roots, and staying true to who you are and where you came from. Brooklyn is our story but this holds true to every town, city, and neighborhood out there. We all came from somewhere, we all helped establish these places, and we all have a responsibility to honor our roots and connect with others who share these same streets with us.

The electric vibe of our cities, people & streets are conveyed through the individuality of the people that live and work there. It was, therefore, an organic avenue for us to share another connection we have in our city, cool clothing - but it's more than just clothing - it's a vibe, a lifestyle. Its a commitment to honoring our urban roots through streetwear.
