OUR LOGO TELLS OUR STORY
Memento Mori is a Latin term that, literally translated, means "Remember Death." This is a concept that has been studied throughout history by many philosophers and theologians and has continually presented itself in art, literature, architecture, and even song. It conveys the common belief that one must understand the finality of the end in order to truly live.
The early Colonists embraced this theory by carving an image on their tombstones called a "winged death's head", which was meant to remind the living that death awaits. The message was clear - we have limited time here and all have the same fate so make wise choices and make them meaningful. This deeply resonated with us as our mantra is to make every day count and stay true to yourself and others.
Our logo is an homage to the early Colonist's memento mori symbol and its profound meaning. It's our daily reminder, as the tombstones were to the settlers, that life is short and, in the famous words of Marcus Aurelius "You could leave this world tomorrow. Let that determine what you do and say and think."
A very positive message in a seemingly dark symbol.
